The GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) provides you access to state-provided healthcare in countries within the EU. However, it doesn’t replace holiday insurance since there are important limitations on what it can cover:

• Private medical treatment, if this is the most appropriate place for you to receive treatment
• The cost of emergency medical transport to get you back to the UK (known as medical repatriation)
• Trip cancellations, travel delays, lost/damaged luggage, and replacement of lost or delayed prescribed medications
