The GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) can help you access state-provided healthcare in some European countries. However, it should not be seen as a replacement for holiday insurance.

The GHIC won’t cover the costs for:

• Private medical treatment (if appropriate)
• Emergency transport to get you back to the UK if medically needed (repatriation)
