Frequently Asked Questions About Angina Travel Insurance

1. Does Angina Affect Travel Insurance Cost?

Yes, angina is classed as a pre-existing medical condition, so you’ll need to declare it when getting a quote. During the medical screening, this may lead to an additional premium.

The cost of your policy is also affected by other factors, such as your age, trip duration, and destination. Additionally, it depends on how well-managed your condition is and any other medical conditions you currently have or have had.

2. Do You Need to Declare Stable Angina for Travel Insurance?

Yes. Even if your angina is stable, it is still considered a pre-existing medical condition. This means you must declare it when purchasing stable angina travel insurance. Being open about your medical condition ensures you get the suitable cover for your needs and, most importantly, that your policy is valid.

If your angina changes in any way after you've taken out your policy, please let us know so we can ensure your cover remains up to date.

3. What Will I Be Asked When Buying Angina Holiday Insurance?

To make sure your angina holiday insurance gives you the right cover, you’ll need to answer a few medical screening questions. The questions will vary depending on your condition, but may include:

  • Associated Conditions – Information on any related health conditions linked to your condition
  • Medical Procedure – Details about procedures you’ve had for your condition
  • Severity of Symptoms – The current impact of your angina on your daily life
  • Current Treatment – Medications prescribed, specialist referrals, or whether you’re awaiting tests, results, or surgery
4. Which Type of Travel Insurance with Angina Policies Are Available?

At Able2Travel, we offer two main types of travel insurance for someone with angina to choose from to fit how you travel:

  • Single Trip Cover – Ideal for those planning a one-off holiday, and cover starts from the day your trip begins.
  • Annual Multi-Trip Cover – Designed for travellers who enjoy travelling frequently. This convenient option covers all your trips within a 12-month period.
5. What Destinations are Covered Under Travel Insurance with Angina?

At Able2Travel, we offer cover for those travelling to Europe and worldwide. From staycations in the UK to city breaks in Europe and long-haul worldwide trips. Our cover is divided into five areas:

UK Only Coverage (For UK Residents Only)

  • Area 1: Includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as well as Isle of Man.

Europe Coverage

If you’re going on holiday to Europe, you can choose between two types of angina travel cover:

  • Area 2: Includes all countries in Area 1, Western & Northern Europe, Mediterranean Islands, and Eastern Europe
  • Area 3: Includes all countries in Areas 2, and including Turkey

Worldwide Coverage

If your trip involves travelling beyond Europe, you’ll need worldwide cover. For this, there are two options to choose from:

  • Area 4: Includes all countries in Areas 1, 2 and 3 (excluding the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico)
  • Area 5: Includes all countries including those in Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4
6. Why Do I Need Holiday Insurance with Angina If I Have a GHIC?

With the GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card), it gives you access to state-provided healthcare in the EU, at the same level as the local people would receive. The GHIC has important limitations on what it can cover.

For example, it won’t cover costs for private medical treatment and getting you home if medically needed (known as repatriation). Also, holiday insurance with angina cover provides cover against problems like trip cancellations or lost baggage while abroad.

7. How to Get Your Quote for Angina Holiday Insurance?

The process of getting a quote from Able2Travel is straightforward. Here's how:

  1. Tell us about your trip – choose your destination, when you’d like cover to begin, and who will be travelling
  2. Complete the medical screening about your angina or other medical conditions you have had – this can be done online or over the phone
  3. Get your personalised quote
  4. Compare three levels of cover and choose the option that suits you best
  5. Add optional extras to tailor the policy to your needs, such as cruise cover or winter sports cover
