Frequently Asked Questions About Slipped Disc Travel Insurance
1. Who Is Able2Travel Slipped Disc Travel Insurance For?
Our specialist policies are designed for anyone who needs to declare a slipped disc, including those who:
- Have recently been diagnosed with a slipped disc
- Are currently managing their condition (e.g., through ongoing treatment and medication)
- Have a history of a slipped disc, regardless of how long ago it was active
2. Do I Need to Declare Herniated Disc on Travel Insurance?
Yes. When arranging travel insurance, it is important to declare any diagnosis or treatment related to a slipped disc.
A slipped disc may also be referred to as a herniated disc, bulging disc or prolapsed disc. If you have been diagnosed with any of these conditions, you should declare the condition during the medical screening process.
Being open about your condition ensures you get the suitable cover for your needs and, most importantly, that your policy is valid.
If there has been a change in your condition after taking out your policy — for example, a change in medication, symptoms or planned treatment — please let us know so we can update your cover if needed.
3. What Questions Will I Be Asked About My Bulging Disc?
To make sure your travel insurance for bulging disc provides the right coverage, we’ll ask a few straightforward questions about your medical condition.
They will typically cover areas such as:
- Current Treatment – Details of any medication you take to relieve pain and whether you’re awaiting tests, results, or surgery
- Hospital Admissions – Details about any unplanned hospital visits you've had for your condition in the last 2 years
- Medical Treatment – Information about any treatments or procedures you have received for your herniated disc in the last 12 months
- Severity of Symptoms – The impact herniated disc has on your daily life
Rest assured, your responses are always kept strictly confidential.
4. Can I Rely on The GHIC Instead of Travel Insurance for Prolapsed Disc?
While the GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) gives you access to state-provided healthcare in some European countries on the same basis as a local resident, it isn’t a replacement for travel insurance for prolapsed disc.
The reason is that there are some aspects that the GHIC doesn’t cover but is covered under travel insurance.
For example, it won’t cover costs for private medical treatment or medical repatriation if medically needed. Additionally, travel insurance includes cover for common travel disruption. This includes flight delays, lost baggage, replacement of mobility equipment and prescribed medication.
5. Which Types of Travel Insurance for Bulging Disc Are Available?
At Able2Travel, we offer two main types of travel insurance for bulging disc, depending on how often you travel:
- Single Trip Cover: Ideal for one-off trips, providing cover from the day your trip begins to the day it ends
- Annual Multi-Trip Cover: Suitable for those who travel frequently, this policy provides cover for multiple trips within a 12-month period.
6. What Destinations are Covered Under Herniated Disc Travel Insurance?
At Able2Travel, we offer herniated disc travel insurance to Europe and beyond. From staycations in the UK to city breaks in Europe and long-haul worldwide trips. Our cover is divided into five areas:

- Area 1: Includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as well as Isle of Man

- Area 2: Includes all countries in Area 1, Western & Northern Europe, Mediterranean Islands, and Eastern Europe
- Area 3: Include all countries in Areas 2, and including Turkey
Worldwide Coverage
If your trip involves travelling beyond Europe, you’ll need a worldwide policy. Able2Travel has two options to choose from:
